Litter Prevention Spring Clean Up
Every April, KLB hosts its annual Spring Clean up event in the LHS parking lot from 9 to noon held in conjunction with Keep Texas Beautiful’s Trash Off and Keep America Beautiful’s Great America Clean Up activities. With the help of hundreds of volunteers, this event focuses on a city-wide clean up of Lewisville with special attention on areas in need of a little TLC. By sending out teams to various pre-determined locations, each team focuses on cleaning their spot and reports back at noon. This is a great event for the young and old alike, and is a great way to get your family, business, or organization involved. KLB provides all materials needed and even offers lunch, drinks, goody bags, and door prizes. There are also various awards to be given out afterwards for adult and youth categories, such as “most unusual piece of trash found” and “most trash collected”. Volunteers are needed for clean up teams and sponsors are needed for door prizes. We encourage everyone to participate. You will be proud of the difference it will make. Keep Lewisville Beautiful is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors whose mission is to empower the citizens of Lewisville through education to take a greater responsibility for enhancing their community. Keep Lewisville Beautiful (KLB) celebrates 21 years of organizing community residents and businesses to help clean up the city. If you cannot make the April date, don’t feel left out. Organize your own clean up and call KLB with the details and we will try to see that you are recognized for your hard work. Litter doesn’t just appear; it is the result of careless attitudes and improper waste handling. People litter mainly because they feel no sense of ownership, even though areas such as parks are public properties. They believe someone else, such as a park maintenance or highway worker will pick up after them. The Clean Up is about community pride and our neighborhoods. Communities reflect our sense of pride. This past year we’ve all been reminded of what’s really important, our neighborhoods and communities, and we don’t want it trashed with litter. We’re encouraging everyone to do just one positive thing this day during the Great American Clean Up and Don’t Mess with Texas Trash Off day. To sign up for the Spring Clean Up, all you need to do is fill out the form, and send it to KLB.
